The Diamond Age First Impressions

4 01 2011

To begin, Sci-fi/cyberpunk really is not my genre. My regular read consists of the clashing of steel and the thundering of thaumaturgic magicks not skull-guns or nanobots. This is all utterly new to me. However, Neal Stephenson has begun to unravel my mind in ways unbeknownst to me.

He has created the clearest picture displaying the world of tomorrow in this book. It’s classy, high-tech, and consists of an increasingly complex and rich world. All this and I’m only on the 60th page! I look forward to seeing what is in store for me but there is not enough time in the day to enjoy it. All in all, it’s a good read that’s looking to improve as I delve further.

I recently picked up a copy of The Diamond Age, but I haven’t read it yet. It looks good! If you like Stephenson’s writing style, but aren’t sold on SF, try his Zodiac.

There actually is one SF book that I’m interested in. It’s called “The Stars My Destination” by Alfred Bester. Oh man, I hope I don’t get too hooked on sci-fi! There isn’t enough time to real all these books. ;O
